Alpo
Sherlock Holmes story. A "silver-and-brilliant pendant" was pawned. Now, I know there is a diamond cut called "brilliant", so it's quite possible that is what he meant, especially as the woman it was stolen from was extremely wealthy, and one would suspect that she did not have costume jewelry. But that's how Doyle wrote it. And, as usual with anything older than six months, Google does not know what it is. Any thoughts on what a "brilliant" is? Noz
Did about a nickels worth of research and found a piece of victorian jewelry in which the metal was curt in such a fashion to simulate the facets of a "brilliant" cut diamond. Possibly a synonym for "flashy"?
