Ace_of_Hearts
Well, for now, my hunting gun would be a 12 gauge 11 87 Remington, with 2 3/4 & 3 inch shells. I guess I would have to use steel shot. So for pheasants, would you need #2 shot? Dang birds flush in the next county. For Pheasants I would go with HEVI STEEL. It is about half way in price between Hevi Shot and Lead.... I think I paid $16.00 for a box of 25. Works well and is effective with the same size shot as lead. I use the #4 shot for ducks and Pheasant. http://www.cabelas.com/product/Environ-Metal-Inc-Hevi-Steelreg-150-Per-Box/1852151.uts?Ntk=AllProducts&searchPath=%2Fcatalog%2Fsearch.cmd%3Fform_state%3DsearchForm%26N%3D0%26fsch%3Dtrue%26Ntk%3DAllProducts%26Ntt%3Dhevi%2Bsteel%26x%3D19%26y%3D6%26WTz_l%3DHeader%253BSearch-All%2BProducts&Ntt=hevi+steel&WTz_l=Header%3BSearch-All+Products And what about quail. I like steel # 7 shot from Remington or Kent. Very effective at ranges for quail. How much wear on the barrel and SS choke tubes? You should always use both in barrels/chokes designed for steel shot.
