Mean Matt McCord, SASS #24683
I want to get a Marbles front sight for my Yellowboy. Which width should I get, the .340 or the .531? Thanks in advance.
The Original Lumpy Gritz
Matt-IMHO, best to remove the one you have and measure that one. Then you know for fact. LG
Garrison Joe, SASS #60708
I'm sure the size that fits like the factory sight does is going to be the .531" wide, .410" high sight. It is on my Uberti-made guns in .45 Colt or .44-40. This will be slightly wider than the dovetail, and give you a slight amount of overhand of the barrel at both sides of the slot, allowing you to drive it to final position easier. Take your calipers to the existing dovetail if you are unsure. Of course, you can step up the bead size by going to a Grabber sight (from several cowboy gunsmiths, like The Smith Shop) with a 0.130" or even 0.175" bead, which is a larger bead than the Marbles line provides. Good luck, GJ (edited to fix the correct width)
