Connecticut Yankee
Hi pards How do you tell the difference between a new bolt for 73 and an old bolt for a 73 I bought a bolt and we think it is an old bolt and my 73 is about 7 years old and have never had it apart so I don't know what to look for to distinguish the difference in each bolt it may sound stupid but if it is not broke don't mess with it is my motto. Just looking for a spare bolt. Any help or pictures would be appreciated. Thanks Ct Yankee
Snakebite
The new one will have a slot in the underside that a locking wedge goes into. The Pin is driven out to release the extention. If you have one of the old one.... HOLD ON TO IT! They are hard to find. Snakebite
Garrison Joe, SASS #60708
The old bolt has a very small pin (1/16" or so) at the back of the bolt that pins the firing pin extension in place. The new has both a much larger cross pin (which is also the pin on which the front of the toggles pivot) and the wedge. See this diagram of the new bolt assembly. http://www.vtigunparts.com/store/shopdisplayproducts.asp?id=42&cat=Uberti+1873+Rifle Good luck, GJ
