Grizzly Adams 3674
This is a very fine quality Vintage Derby hat. It is made of fine fur felt, and is very stiff and hard, as vintage Derby/Bowler hats were made. These were not intended to be soft hats, as you find with many modern versions. The brim has the proper D'Orsay curl, and not the pencil roll found on modern versions. The D'Orsay brim treatment is no longer done by any maker that I am aware of - basically extinct. Note the end of the hat ribbon is frayed on the ends. That is NOT wear, it is as the hat was made, and dates this as an early hat. Don't know a thing about the maker, but the hat has a very high quality liner, and leather sweatband - both in splendid condition. It is marked a size 7 1/8, and fits like a round oval. Hat has a couple of small rub marks, but is otherwise in excellent vintage condition. Nice example! $100 shipped to the first "I'll take it" PM. PayPal is OK.
