Bottom Dealin Mike, SASS #22273 Posted July 7, 2013 Posted July 7, 2013 This will be old news to current Remington shooters, but for folks who don't own a Remington New Model Army revolver yet, but are thinking about getting one in the future, this could be useful. I had to break it into two videos due to length. Part one deals with cleaning the cylinder and nipples. Part 2 shows how to completely disassemble, clean and re-assemble the revolver. Part 1: Part 2:
Buckeye Pete, SASS # 29941 Posted July 8, 2013 Posted July 8, 2013 Bottom Dealin Mke, Thank you for the videos on the '58 Remington. Very imformative. Many years ago I shot a pair of these when I first started shooting cowboy action, they were my main match pistols, boy was I busy. I have since moved on to cartridge guns, but have only shot black powder. I have a desire to get another pair of the '58 Remingtons, this time in the 5 1/2 inch barrel models to use in Frontiersman side matchs. Do you "slick up" your own pistols? How much is involved in getting a pair of these reliable enough to go boom most all the time and if possible, reduce the very heavy hammer tension? I remember my thumbs getting awfully tired by the end of a match. I'm aware of getting a set of new nipples and have that planned. Does anyone sell a "slightly reduced" hammer spring? Thanks for any advice. Buckeye Pete
The Coconino Pistolero, SASS # 72432 Posted July 8, 2013 Posted July 8, 2013 Howdy Buckeye, VTI sells the reduced strength springs for the Remington. That will put it into more manageable range. CP
