California - The law makers are being sneaky.

In California there are two bills being considered.

AB-180 and AB-187. Both are called "Ammo Sales Tax" bill.

Even the NRA Legislation Alert has them down as duplicates.

However, the politicians have managed to sneak by some serious proposed changes to AB-180.

-

AB-187 is in fact a bill to add additional taxes on every round of ammunition sold.

-

AB-180 which also had the same ammunition tax in it now included registration requirements on all firearms. What the politicians did was delete the ammo sales tax (because of duplication in AB-187) from the bill and left the new registration requirements.

AND the politicians chose not change the name of the bill. It is still called the "Ammo Sales Tax" bill.

That tactic is called "gut and amend." It gets used every year.
