COLORADO: Proposed Ban of a Popular Shotgun

Recommended Posts

Kiowa Kid,

New Mexico is still a free State....for a while. Similar climate to Colorado and a large number of former Army Aviators like myself. 30 of our 33 County Sheriffs have voted to defy any anti-2A legislation, no matter where it originates.

GOV can't sign it until the Senate passes it. Hearings will be on Monday. Keep up the heat!

The County Sheriffs of Colorado and other organizations are planning to testify at the hearings tomorrow in Denver. The Sheriffs are on record as opposing any legislation that restricts the second Amendment and will tell the senators that. The Sheriffs have stated that any laws contrary to the Second Amendment will not be enforced. The County Commissioners of El Paso County (the most populous county in Colorado and where Colorado Springs is located) have also gone on record as opposing any legislation the restricts Second Amendment rights. The hearings next week will be very crowded as the republican leaders in the senate have been holding conference calls with citizens and encouraging all who can to come to Denver and testify. Some of the democrat senators are already wavering. The outcome of all this will be indicative of how pro-gun forces will fare in other locations as well.

At the recent hearings in Maryland, the appointed police heads all supported gun control because their appointed bosses told them to.

At the hearings, at least a dozen top sheriff's, from different counties, testified against all of the gun control legislation. Many made statements that they would not enforce the new laws.

It now appears that states, and Maryland is one, are threatening those shooters that thought they were never coming after "Their" guns.

Maybe now, we can get them to help us fight these things. For the first time ever, I saw some of our clubs skeet and trap shooters at a House hearing.

Without the support of ALL gun owners, we stand to lose the battle.

This is really an extended interpretation of the application of HB13-1224 (limits to magazine capacity) to certain shotguns that could have an extension tube added.

This is NOT a new bill.

Interesting it does not appear to prevent us from using our Winchester 1887s with extended magazines.

hb13-1224 has an exclusion for tubular fed lever-action firearms.

The limit by this bill is still 15 rounds for non-shotguns and 8 rounds for a shotgun.

That would appear to be with/without an extension tube.

One question, I would like to see answered by a judge perhaps colorado constitutional lawyer is what is defined as possession?

Because if the firearm is grandfathered it must remain in constant possession.

And does leaving a grandfathered firearm with a gunsmith constitute a break in possession?
