Grouchy Greg, SASS#71981
.........to all CAS'ers wheresoever dispersed. I'm sitting here with a frosty mug of eggnog spiked with 100 proof Captain Applejack brandy, listening to one of my favorite Christmas recordings; Norfolk & Western train No. 42, "The Pelican" with Class J steam locomotive No. 603 up front northbound from N'awlins to Roanoke, Washington and points north, as it approaches in the distance, arrives, pauses briefly and then departs Rural Retreat, Va. on Christmas Eve 1957, gradually fading into the winter night. Here's a youtube link if you're interested. Turn the volume way up, close your eyes and imagine yourself there on a cold, crisp and starry December night, when the winter air is still and sound carries for a long way in the hills and valleys of southwest Va. www.youtube.com/watch?v=fbzAJoW34DM&feature=results_video&playnext=1&list=PLB73E8D77EF534B2C
