30 caliber S&W?

Hi:

I ran across a S&W revolver marked 30 caliber.

Never seen one before.

All the S&W info I have does not mention a 30 caliber chambering.

Anybody know anything about this?

Just thought I'd ask here before doing intensive research in case anybody knows as it will save me some work.

Hey Dog, only revolver I ever heard of chambered in 30 cal was/is the Ruger blackhawk in 30m1. don't mean that someone did ont have a smith do a rechamber job or some such thing.

Finding ammo for it might be a problem. I think 30 rimfire has been out of production since around 1917.

The Remington "Smoot" pocket revolver was also chambered in .30rf...existing ammo (if you can find it) goes for just about as much as the firearm itself!
