  1. Hi Roger I wonder if I could get a copy as well. I recently acquired a Pedersolli Lightning in 44-40. Thanks GB
  2. Hi Roger

Could I get a copy of your rifle rack plan?  We could use a couple at our CAS range.  Send the PDF to chuckm@sasktel.net.  Thanks

  3. What a crock of "Bull Crap"!! My understanding of the cowboy way is loyalty to the organization that supports us, taking responsibility for myself and paying my way not whining and making excuses. Sorry but that's how I interpreted your posts, If you don't want to be part of SASS just man up and say so that your right, no excuses necessary. PS just because you don't have an annual shoot doesn't mean you get nothing from SASS. Look at Tornado's post above he explains the benefits better than I've ever heard before. Grey Beard
  4. Cowboy shooters are a tough, resilient lot. Last year at Winter Range there were 2 of us on chemo on our posse and when I was talking to one of the vendors it ended up that there were 5 of us in his tent that were on or just finished chemo at the same time. The vendor was 5 years Cancer Free. Based on what I'm being told by the oncologists now I'm winning and hope to be off Chemo by this spring/summer sometime. GB
  5. Thanks Guys that is exactly the info I was looking for. Now I just need to see what I need to juggle in order to get there.
  6. Since Granny and I are unable to attend Winter Range this year due to my Chemo schedule we would like to attend EOT if I can work it out. The link from the SASS site doesn't have much information or the agenda yet and I know I can't make the full 10 days plus travel. I'm trying to find the dates of the main match to see if we can make it work in between two matches we attend here in Canada plus possible chemo dates. Does any one know the dates of the main match or should I just email SASS? Thanks Grey Beard
  7. Prayers for a successful recovery are on the way.

I think this is exactly the thinking that promotes inconsistency when making calls. By taking the course we level the playing field as much as we can. Does that mean there will never be wrong calls made? No we're all human and prone to mistakes. The RO committee and PWB do a great job in clarifying the rules but we will all make an occasional wrong call in the heat of the moment. My thinking if you can't pass a written test, you have no hope in consistently and correctly applying the rules in the heat of the moment. As Ace of Hearts points out that extends to all of the Range Officer duties including spotting and the load and unload tables. He also correctly points out it's a requirement at State and above matches. We do no favours by not following that at our monthly matches. I can't speak for other RO Instructors but I'm always only to happy to find time to run a RO1 or RO II course when asked. I bet I'm not the only instructor that feels that way. Having said that I don't see the 2 years as a hard and fast rule. If you read the newest RO manual and talk to your TG to keep up on any rule changes and clarifications you'll be fine until you can take a course. My experience is that the best RO's are not necessarily the most experienced but they have taken the courses more than once and make it a point to ask questions and discuss the rules on and off the firing line when they are unsure. 9. I felt the same way plus stuff like this is hard to find up here in Canada, then 5 years ago at I was shooting Fire & Ice at Cowtown and had two slightly oversized rounds hang up in my 73. At least 5 shooters on our posse suggested that I get a cartridge checker so on Monday a friend going to Dillon picked me up one in 38 special. Now the final step in my loading routine is checking the rounds before I package them, It also picks up the odd split case that slips through on my Dillon. I don't find many maybe 1 or 2 per thousand if that many but I never have trouble any longer. I generally load 5 or 6 thousand then do the checking and packaging while I'm watching TV. Any that don't work are set aside for resizing then once a year I will pull and resize all of the rounds. That way I salvage the components. Grey Beard
  10. I never shot mine in 38/357 before I had it short stroked and tuned. I throws the brass back behind me just like my Uberti's all do. I have no idea what he did but I get my brass back at the loading table. GB
  11. Prayers sent.
  12. I had one but no matter what I tried it kept flipping primers over on me. Finally in frustration I gave it to another reloader and he hasn't talked to me since. Good thing he didn't owe me any money. LOL
