  1. Kid Flash started shooting in 2018 using Ruger Single Six .22’s and a youth model Henry .22, sans shotgun and just took the misses, a couple of years later he moved up to the 12 gauge SKB shotgun. Now that he’s a Young Gun he’s picked up a few State Titles and is constantly improving.
  2. Shootin Sharyn mother of the Burt 3 with an impressive CAS resume of her own.
  3. The five member Burt family has really made a mark on the Cowboy Action Shooting scene. Captain Bill Burt started CAS in 2011 with the North Alabama Regulators and joined the Mule Camp Cowboys soon after. Shootin Sharyn his wife joined him for a short time and then dropped out for awhile and started CAS again a few years later and has since won several Georgia State titles. Captain Bill Burt has won four Georgia State Championships. In 2022 four out of the five of them won Georgia State Championships. Four of them traveled to EOT in Indiana in 2021 and 2 of them buckled, pretty nice accomplishment. With a family of 5 shooting, prepping for even a monthly match is no small endeavor and state and above matches really become monumental endeavors, look at these numbers for the Tennessee State match: 2 gun carts, one heavily overloaded 2,000 rounds 38/32 2 cases shotgun shells 20 guns, 10 Rugers, 5 Uberti 1873’s, 5 SKB SxS’s 17 loading blocks 5 gunbelt and holster rigs Clothes and cold weather gear for 5 lube and tools for guns And don’t forget the dog He reloads on a Dillon 650 and a Ponsness Warren 800+ shotshell press.
  4. Half a Hand Henri had shoes on at this years EOT, I’d never seen her wear shoes to a match before. I asked why she was wearing them and I believe it was a category requirement, I can’t remember.
  5. One of the things that I noticed and a lot of EOT attendees noticed this year was the increase in younger participants. There were a bunch of young people there, young from my saddle was 20ish and younger. I’ve heard different numbers and all of them were over 40!!!! I got to visit with some of the families of those kids and I posted pictures and I have to tell you they are a great bunch of kids. So what I want to do is create a thread on each family using information supplied by the parents with their support to tell the stories of these young men and women and how they came to be involved in Cowboy Action Shooting. I’m already getting feedback and some of the numbers are staggering in the number of firearms needed, gun carts, leather, and ammunition and on and on, it’s not a low cost endeavor by any stretch of the imagination, especially now days. To make this work I’d like to have all of you that know these individuals and families and have posseed with them tell about your experiences with them. Share some stories and help celebrate them playing the game that we all love. All you families with kids playing our game who would like to get the story out PM me and we’ll connect and I’ll give you my email address and get things started. I’d like to post action pictures so I’ll need those and I’d like you family members to join in also and keep the threads alive, maybe with current updates and match happenings. If you’ve got a story to tell about your kids or grandkids that have become adults let’s post those stories too. What do you think? Here are a couple of pictures of families that are going to help me get this started. The Chicken George family of shooters and the Mesquite Jenkins family of shooters.
  6. A first morning video that I couldn’t load. IMG_1409.mov
  7. The weather was great. Last year it rained one day and was fairly muddy. I used 2 tanks of propane last year running the fire pit. This year maybe a half tank, we usually shut it off by 8:00 and last year a couple of days we ran it the entire day. The buffalo coat was usually off by 8:00 too, last year I wore it til lots later in the morning or early afternoon. I don’t recall much about the first year but I don’t remember any rain.
  8. Here are a couple of videos of Non Stop first learning about the cart and the presentation. Good internet service has its advantages. IMG_1965.mov IMG_2698.mov
  9. Sorry about that, I’ve had a bunch of alias’s thrown at me over the last week. Leadbender, I apologize.
  10. Looking back at EOT 2024 from my saddle I’d say it went really, really well and went by far too fast. In the EOT’s that I’ve attended since 2007 I don’t believe there have ever been this many young competitors, by young I mean younger than 20 or so. The Chicken George family, The Mesquite Jenkins family, Evil Do Gooder and his family and many more that I didn’t get to visit with all made the trip and paid the $$$’s to be there and we should all be glad that they did, it was good to see. I’m pretty sure that the planning for EOT 2025 started before the last shot was fired. Tomorrow morning you won’t be able to tell that the SASS World Championship Of Cowboy Action Shooting had even happened there at Ben Avery Shooting Range. Everything is put away and about 10 months or so from now Larsen Pettifogger will start a Rumblings In The Desert thread for EOT 2025. I took a lot more pictures than I was able to post because of internet issues at the range and if I post them now I’d never be able to get the correct alias with the right picture, somehow after seeing all the people I saw over the last week a lot of you kinda look a lot alike.. Sixgun Seamus and I started playing EOT tag a couple of years ago and I believe he was this years winner as he was the last 2 years. If you haven’t been to an EOT you owe it to yourself to do so. If you don’t feel comfortable competing against some of the best shooters in the world join the Rangers and help make it happen, there’s plenty to do and Rattlesnake Slim and Leadbender are a couple of great pards to work for. Start making your plans for EOT 2025, February 24- March 2nd. I’ll see you there.
  11. Sixgun Seamus, I can’t thank you enough for feeding my thread, safe travels home.
  12. Sixgun Seamus it was a pleasure to see you and Cayenne Kay again, safe travels home and I hope your plans for the trailer storage come through so that we’ll see you at Bordertown and other locals this fall and winter.
  13. Get that knee fixed and congratulations. Enjoyed talking with you. Great job on the weather too.
  14. Congratulations Buck you didn’t need to worry about those 2 misses after all. Nice shooting, pard.
  15. Herters Remington, Federal and some Winchester. Let me know if you need some and I’ll send some out.
  16. He doesn’t age much does he?
  17. Thank you everyone, this was a special build. Billy Boots fed me a bunch of information about Non Stops gun cart set up and guns, loading strips, etc.. so that I could hopefully build it for him to use. The Buffalo Soldiers hold a special place in his heart and being able to add to that was my pleasure. He brought it by the Cart Corral to have another picture taken with us with the cart and say good bye until next year. Class act, that Non Stop.
  18. Non Stop pushing his Buffalo Soldier gun cart. This is likely the only time it will ever see a range.
