H. K. Uriah, SASS #74619 Posted November 28, 2022 Posted November 28, 2022 We've all seen those derringers, and some revolvers, that are .410/.45 Colt. Well, I was wondering, if you have a .410 shotgun, and need some slugs, can you use .45 Colt? Or at least the brass using a .41 caliber bullet?
Tom Bullweed Posted November 28, 2022 Posted November 28, 2022 A .410 full choke is .398" and an open choke is .410". I don't think a .451 bullet would do well. The .45/ .410 derringers are .45 caliber and have little concerns about sizing for a shotgun. A properly-sized round ball, loaded inside a .45 Colt cartridge might be okay.
H. K. Uriah, SASS #74619 Posted November 28, 2022 Author Posted November 28, 2022 Well, I figured you'd need to use a smaller bullet. I wonder if you could crimp the 45 case to a 41 bullet or not. Idle curiosity is ab strange thing.
