Hoss
Hoss, that is the Uberti short arbor problem. Easy to solve by doing the Pettifogger solution. I've looked at that, and if I shot them more would probably do it, although I'm probably am not a talented enough machinist to get it right. For now, I put a couple of shims in, pretty much did the same thing as Pettifogger's solution, just not as "elegant".
Buffalo Dick, SASS #12880
Not a gun to avoid, but the really neat opentop and cartridge conversion revolvers don't work well for some two handed shooters, they tend to overrun (I think that is the term) when cocked forcefully. They are fine for duelists, gunfighters, and perhaps two-handed shooters who don't cock so aggressively. They are neat guns and I think the '72 opentop is the most beautiful and graceful revolver ever made. They may also be the most naturally pointing revolver of all the old west type guns.
