Guest Maker-Wright
Sounds like your extractors aren't holding the shell tight/long enough to get a good "pop" out of the ejector spring. With the bolt out of the gun, you should be able to place a shell onto the bolt face, and the extractors should provide plenty of tension to hold the shell in place against gravity. If not, something is too weak (right side extractor spring), too loose (distance between left and right extractors), or broken (left side extractor leg). Also, the left side extractor should grip the case rim enough to resist the ejector a bit, but not too much, or it won't want to let go of the shell. It can be a bit of a balancing act to form the radius on the inside of the left extractor "hook" to a sharp enough point, without sharpening it so much that it won't let go of the shell when it hits the ejector. Garrison Joe, SASS #60708
Real Winchester? Or IAC or Norinco Chinese? Has the back-up block behind the ejector spring popped out? Little tiny rectangular block with a small pin that holds it in place through the left wall of receiver. Has the tail broken off the left side extractor? Good luck, GJ
