Nota John, SASS #51089L
Anyone out there have a .45 Colt 250 Gr. load using Clays or Clay Dot? Looking for something in the 700 FPS area. Please PM any information. Thanks. Nota John

Roger Rapid
I think the bigger question is, "where are you finding Clays and Clay Dot?" !! RR
Nota John, SASS #51089L
I'm not finding Clays or Clay Dot anywhere, yet,. I know both are equivalent powders for shot loads, but Alliant tells me that Clay Dot is not for metallic loads, but the Hodgdon booklet shows Clays for the .45 Colt. If Clay Dot is equal to Clays, then it should be usable for .45 Colt loads. That is the reason I asked if anyone has load data for Clay Dot. Thanks. Rio Brazos Kid
Regardless of what you have heard, or anyone says, Clay Dot replaces Clays very nicely in CAS cartridges. The reason there is a dearth of data showing Clay Dot is the fact that there is such an abundance of data for Clays, it isn't worth the considerable expense of doing retests on a powder that for all practical reasons, duplicates Clays. Lots of CAS shooters use Clay Dot, and it works without problems. RBK
