Colonel Dan, SASS #24025
Today, Chris Cox, executive director pf NRA's Institute for Legislation Action thanked US Sen. James Inhofe (R-Okla.) for introducing an amendment, during the US Senate's Budget process, to prevent the United States from entering into the United Nations Arms Trade Treaty. In the early hours this morning, the full Senate passed Inhofe’s amendment on a 53-46 vote. In a statement, Cox said the fight to oppose “any United Nations effort to undermine the constitutionalrights of law-abiding American gun owners” has grown “more intense.”“Thanks to the efforts of Senator Inhofe, we are one step closer to ensuring the UN will not trample on the freedoms our Founding Fathers guaranteed to us,” Cox said.Read more:NRA praises Inhofe for amendment to stop US from joining UN arms treaty - The Hill's Blog Briefing RoomSenate votes 53-46 to stop US from joining UN Arms Trade Treaty - The Hill's Floor Action Link to comment

Six-Shot
WE have won another "battle" but the "war" is not over. Don't ever become complacent. Have something good to eat, get some sleep, have some fun, and "gear up" for the next battle, "background checks" and "extended magazines". "The price of freedom is eternal vigilance". Hacker, SASS #55963
The "war" is far from over. In fact, this UN battle isn't over. Just a few more details would be useful here Dan. Ignoring that the scotus has already indicated that this kind of thing is still born. Ignoring the fact that the senate has to ratify treaties with 2/3rds of those present. One of the parts of vigilance is to know HOW something can happen once it appears over. Link to comment
Colonel Dan, SASS #24025
Hacker, Having watched the Obama administration and their demonstrated disregard for both the Constitution and existing law, I don't see them giving up just because of a supreme court ruling, ratification requirements, or this most recent amendment. Additionally, we've all seen him get away with much more than any other administration as he's not held to account on much of what he does. As the ardent zealots they are, this administration will search for ways to "cooperate" with our United Nations brothers in "making the world safer" even if through executive agreement with other heads of state. As one of my favorite philosophers once said, "You can observe a lot just by watching" ~ Yogi Berra ~ It's his established MO so let's just watch him. The is far from over. Just the view from my saddle...yours may vary. Link to comment
