Question for SAA Gunsmiths

Recommended Posts

Hello;

I just picked up a new SAA 3rd generation model in .44 Special made in 1982.

This revolver seams to be well made excepth that there is a visual gap

between the frame and the trigger gaurd where the two intersect.

Is this a common problem with early 3rd generation peacemakers? And how

can this defect be corrected.

Anyways I would appreciate some advise on this matter and if anyone knows

of a gunsmith who can help me with this defect please let me know.

Thanks

No matter the brand, there should not be a gap. First, check the screws to see if any are loose. If that's not the problem, it could be that it was disassembled at some point and not put back together correctly. Any gunsmith worth his salt should be able to correct it. I doubt it left the Colt factory like that.

Presuming it's a Colt, I would call the Colt Custom Shop and get their advice. In my experience they have been responsive and fairly inexpensive.
