Bottom Dealin Mike, SASS #22273
I just got some Blackhorn 209 B-P substitute in to test. Are any of you pards shooting this stuff? I assume it works OK with smokeless lubed bullets? Anything I ought to watch out for?
Black Tooth Zach
I've never messed with it - I've always heard that it is not SASS legal because it is a duplex powder. I found this thread that contains a test fire report.
Captain Woodrow Cahill, SASS # 54363
It's not a legal powder to use as a BP sub since it's a nitrocellulose smokeless powder with sulfur and potassium nitrate added to create smoke on firing. That way it gives the illusion of being a BP sub. Besides being banned from SASS, it's also been banned in New Mexico during the muzzleloading season there. They weren't fooled either. John Boy
Anything I ought to watch out for? Mike, yes. Don't get caught using it for CAS. It is 100% SASS Illegal See no reason why it can't be shot with smokeless lubed bullets. It's nitro based powder
