Red Gauntlet , SASS 60619 Posted March 8, 2011 Posted March 8, 2011 We got some geezers here who shake their canes whenever Hollywood dares to remake a John Wayne movie; True Grit most recently brought 'em out on their porches again. So there should be outcry (no, not from those guys, but maybe from the gals)-- Jane Eyre is out this weekend. This is the 18th movie made from the book. This does not count the 9 made-for-TV versions. Some day I'll have to read it and see what all of the fuss is about! http://www.nytimes.com/2011/03/06/movies/06eyre.html?src=dayp
Dusty Balz, SASS#46599 Posted March 8, 2011 Posted March 8, 2011 Sorry, don't read anything from that commie rag new york times either, it's not even suitable to line the cat box.
Long Branch Louie Posted March 8, 2011 Posted March 8, 2011 I'm approaching geezerhood, but I really haven't seen an outcry about True Grit. Anytime Hollywood remakes a western, it should be good news as rare as they are. The new one was very good, NO ONE will ever replace the Duke, but if a film is well made I don't see any problem. Tom Selleck, Sam Elliot, Clint Eastwood and guys like them are rare in Hollywood, and casting them in new westerns is even less likely. The Duke is gone, so if I wanna watch a new western, i'm gonna have to watch somebody else. But like Dusty said, if I can help it, I don't support liberal anti-gunners....
Red Gauntlet , SASS 60619 Posted March 8, 2011 Author Posted March 8, 2011 Sure, Louie, but 18 times, plus 9 for TV? Even the Commies weren't that crazy.....
Dog Ears Wilson, SASS #77948 Posted March 9, 2011 Posted March 9, 2011 Wait... is there a movie version of Jane Eyre starring John Wayne? 'Cause I'll watch that.
Red Gauntlet , SASS 60619 Posted March 9, 2011 Author Posted March 9, 2011 Yes, the Duke made a great Rochester! Trouble is, since all 27 of the flicks are titled "Jane Eyre", it's hard to find. I think it's #12, but I'm unsure.....
