lead ace Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 hey everybody,i need some help.i just got a new uberti 1873 rifle in a 357 caliber.i put in a pioneer gun works super short stroke kit, aluminum carrier, slick springs for lever and carrier.slick main spring and safety spring. i polished everything up really nice.it runs really nice empty but with the weight of the bullet in it the carrier drops about .050 of an inch.it drops just as the bolt starts to feed the bullet into the chamber.it causes the bullet to hang up and not feed smooth.i have to rattle the lever to feed the bullet.when you go slow its ok.its just when you are running at speed.the spring seems to be fit properly but doesnt hold enough to hold it up.what do you think?thanks lead ace
Marauder SASS #13056 Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 First read this post: http://sassnet.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=164425 See the instructions for the Pioneer Link installation. http://www.pioneergunworks.com/uploads/SS_Kit_Install.pdf That is for reference. It sounds like your problem MAY be the spring adjustment for the keeping the elevator up while loading. If that spring - the one OPPOSITE the Lever - is too light, the elevator will start to fall and cause the problem you mention. So check the instructions for the new springs.
Mink Shoals Bandit, #49388 Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 Ace, you should have these with the Slix Spring kit. http://www.pioneergunworks.com/uploads/Slixprings_Instructions.pdf It takes a while to fit these properly and adjust, as the instructions say, it requires a considerable amount of fitting. Every set I have installed is different and had to be re-contoured and filed to work. Call Joe tomorrow and he will help you.......... Mink....................
