  1. Jreese - Las Vegas via way of Lagos. Banned
  2. Dang. I'm sure sorry you got caught up in one of those 3rd party scams. Daniel56 was not a SASS member. He was very briefly a Wire member. He registered at 2:18 am and was banned that same morning. His email name was supposedly "Daniel Dominguez" out of Florida. But, his location was hidden behind a VPN. But, he slipped up once and we can trace his IP address back to Nigeria. Everybody please, this is why we restrict Classified sales to SASS Members only.
  3. Yep, the Third Party Scam. Donkj90, (IP address resolves to Lagos). Good catch folks. They scan the classified listings in forums for WTB posts and answer them all, hoping somebody, anybody, will fall for it.
  4. Using the third-party scam, Daniel56 was answering all the WTB ads. His IP address is hidden behind a VPN, so there is no way to know where he is. Be wary.
  5. I do not know if bornintheussr is a scammer. But, since he is using a SASS number that is not his, he has been banned.
  6. Gabriel420 - banned daddy89 - banned sloppyj - banned Tommy76 - banned nolay92851 - banned lonif87326 - banned zizahalu - banned tenewi - banned It's like playing Whack-a-Mole! Be careful, and if you have questions about a seller, just go to the 3 dots in the upper right corner of the message or post, and hit report. We'll be glad to verify or use the ban hammer, whichever is warranted.
  7. I would suggest to all Wire members again: Do not pay for firearms via apps or platforms that do not allow firearms sales. Do not buy from non-SASS member third parties that just happen to have what you're looking for, suggested by random non-sass member's private messages. If you have questions about a seller, ask. 8. The link to the RO Corner, rules clarifications, is not currently on the SASS SHB and Rules page. Here is the link http://www.oowss.com/ROCornerIndex.htm watch for more updates, coming soon.

  9. Since some don't seem to understand that profanity, politics, and argumentative, insulting behavior isn't allowed here. (Remember those guidelines you agreed to, when you signed up for the Wire?) We're going to haul out the "ban hammer" for those that won't comply with those simple rules. Behave or be gone.
  10. I would suggest to all Wire members again: Do not pay for firearms via apps or platforms that do not allow firearms sales. Do not buy from non-SASS member third parties that just happen to have what you're looking for, suggested by random non-sass member's private messages. If you have questions about a seller, ask. We'll be glad to check it out for you. I am looking in to another post at the moment. The sales post will not become visible until it checks out. Do not buy from posts on the Classified Wire that do not come from SASS members. (We delete them from the Wire as soon as we see them or when reported). Do not use simple passwords. Change them as part of regular maintenance. We've had a few legit SASS members have their accounts hijacked as a result of keylogger viruses that have stolen all their computer information. Use a good antivirus and security suite software with your online devices.
  11. A tactic some scammers are using is to build up a post count by replying to threads with innocuous comments, or adding cartoons in the Saloon. They hang back awhile and then hijack an old SASS #, and then post in the Classifieds. Yesterday we stopped another. While many are suspicious of those sellers who only have a very limited number of posts, or are new Wire members, the ones that we've been asked about lately have all been legit... Be aware that the "sleeper" tactic has been used successfully. If you have a question about any seller, ask. We'll be glad to follow up.
  12. "Muggle" has been banned. It appears that all entries in his profile, including Location and SASS # were removed. His e-mail address was changed to a new one. IP address has changed to a blacklisted VPN out of D.C.
  13. NJames has been answering WTB ads, referring people to a third person. He/She/They is shielded behind a blacklisted VPN out of Boston, via way of Nigeria. Banned (of course).
  14. This map will now be managed by SASS headquarters and available on the SASS website under the "Find a Club Near You" section and a larger view of the map linked below! https://www.sassnet.com/sass-clubs/clubsmap If the club is not currently on the SASS Affiliated Clubs page, it will not be listed here. Please reach out to SASS headquarters for any updates to the map.
  15. Ronnie Miller is the seller's real name. Alias 1SG, is a SASS member from FL
  16. The bulk, (but certainly not all), of the scammers are new Wire members who are not SASS Members and answer most of the higher dollar WTB ads. Often, if you look at the sender's profile, under location, it will say "Proxy/VPN, No Confirmed Location".
  17. Unfortunately, with the amount of traffic the Classified Wire generates, checking and rechecking every buyer and seller would quickly overwhelm the small group of volunteer we have. (Has this seller been "hacked" since last week? Is that buyer who they say they are?). But, we will gladly do what we can to follow up every request or report. Please consider the Classifieds as no more than a newspaper. Unless you know the other person, buyer (and seller), beware. If you have questions about a seller the SASS Office may be able to help you.
  18. If you receive an unsolicited PM offer to sell. Anything that strikes you as suspicious, just report it. That raises a "red flag" and it only takes a moment to check if the activity is coming from a user's normal location, or if suddenly the SASS- member is sending messages from Lagos.
  19. We are not immune from scammers simply because the seller has a SASS number. A person can become a SASS member if they using a fraudulent credit card. Check references. Ask about sales to other members. Ask for photos of ID that match the address where you are sending funds... photos of the guns with current newspapers. Nothing is "bulletproof". But, protect yourself as much as possible. Dealing with a SASS member does not mean every transaction will be flowers and rainbows. We expect more of SASS members, they may not live up to that expectation. SASS has no power to hold either parties' "feet to the fire". SASS accounts have been hijacked by "hackers" taking advantage of lax passwords. Sometimes, as with the case of "Kibe", they simply copied someone's identity. Stay on your toes. Criminals are trying their best to victimize you.
  20. At least 3 of our legitimate members have had their accounts taken over, or "hacked", and items posted for sale here in the past couple of months in their names. Change your passwords regularly, (or) use a password generating software, (or) use a short phrase, along with some numbers and symbols. Don't make it easy for them!

  21. Vicki, Don't know how they got there, but it happened to someone else's post also. We can fix that for you. Hope you have a Merry Christmas! Eli
  22. Simply putting an item title doesn't tell anybody if you are Buying or if you are Selling. If you have Sold an item, especially if it wasn't through a visible "I'll take it", sooner or later someone is going to be asking to buy it. You won't answer because you are not expecting a reply, and the prospective buyer is left hanging. Do the right thing and edit your post to reflect SOLD or SPF!
