  1. I definitely plan to make it up there to TRR @Cheyenne Ranger, 48747L. We have quite a few folks that regularly shoot there and talk about your club. We've only shot at a few other clubs so far since my family's farm is in Columbus so THSS is easy. Now that our kid is 6 I'm hoping it will be easier for his grandparents to occasionally watch him on a weekend so we can go to more clubs from time to time.

  2. In May it will be ten years since my wife Delia Rose and I started Cowboy Action Shooting. As of Trailhead last week at THSS, I've now competed in 99 matches! Here's a chart with a moving 5-match average of my average time per stage. (I'm a math guy I can't help myself)

It took me about a year to get the hang of things and dramatically reduce my stage times. The spikes you see after that are when I did our local club's Wild Bunch category, which adds extra rounds and time.

I switched from regular two-handed pistols to Gunfighter category four years ago at Trailhead 2020. My times went up a bit with it at first, but I have really improved within the last year after getting some good advice from other Gunfighter shooters. The best part of this sport is the interactions with other shooters. My stage times are now in the upper-20s or low-30s most of the time. I hope to eventually average in the 20s every match. I've done it a couple of times now, so I know I can keep getting better.

  3. saw a video of Donald Trump Jr talking about how great they would be to save shooters' hearing.

If the wait and stamp go away might look into it

...now where would I find an 1880s silencer?

SASS isn't NFA-friendly. Shotguns have to be 18 inches, and when I asked if it would be Ok if I used a lever rifle that had a threaded barrel, they said no, even if I didn't use a suppressor on it during a match.

  4. As written, the HPA provides for a refund of the stamp tax for suppressors purchased after October 22, 2015. This is so people don't completely stop buying them in anticipation of this passing. https://www.congress.gov/bill/115th-congress/house-bill/367

I really hope this passes. I have an annoying uncle that stops by during hunting season every time there's a shot in the area to see if I got anything. A suppressor won't get rid of the sound completely, but it will help.

  5. I got my eye on the Frontier lever .22 with the threaded barrel. Not for CAS, but just as another .22 host when playing with the supressors.

24" barrel seems long for something you want to attach a suppressor to. Plus it only holds ten rounds :/

  6. I do too. That's why I'm looking into the American Derringer. It's much smaller and more in line with the old Remington Double Derringer. It's still a bit big but not nearly as large as the Bonds.

Just to make sure I'm looking at the right company, American Derringer's website is http://www.amderringer.com right? Because that website looks about ten years out of date. I am having trouble finding any real information about their products or the differences between them.
