This photograph shows the Mission circa late 1800s when many of its buildings were partially in ruin. A short time later the California Landmarks Club, led by Charles Fletcher Lummis, began its efforts to restore and preserve the historic site. Photographs such as this one are valuable pieces of the museum collection as they document history of the Mission and provide a key resource to current staff and researchers.
