In 1945, the escort carrier HMS Reaper (ex-USS Winjah) was allocated to the U.S. for Operation Seahorse which was the naval part of Operation Lusty. Lusty was the allied effort to recover top secret German aircraft. The planes shipped to New Jersey included Me 262 and Arado Ar 234 jets.
