Dawg Hair, SASS #29557
It caused a lot of damage in Florida, Georgia and South Carolina but in Florida the damage was not catastrophic because, although it completely traversed the state from south to north, it stayed over 100 miles west (the eye). It could easily have just followed the whole Gulf of Mexico Coast and given us a new name. Residents of Ft Myers were really shaking in their boots. A lot of places down there have still not recovered from Ian's visit last year. I've lived in Florida since 1979 and love it, but every year from June to November I tremble. I guess it's the price we have to pay for living in what we think is paradise. And, oh joyful, the season does not peak for 16 more days!
