Clair Cline, a B-24 pilot imprisoned in Stalag Luft I, created one of the most well-known artifacts to come out of the German prisoner-of-war camps. Cline, who was shot down and captured in February 1944, spent four months using makeshift tools to make a violin, later to be played by some of the most noted virtuosos in the United States.
Last week, we had the pleasure of hosting his son Roger Cline, and his wife Betsy, so that they could see and hold the violin created by his late father. The violin will be displayed in the Museum’s upcoming Liberation Pavilion, opening Fall 2023. Tap here to read more: https://bit.ly/37PDfb2
