Rum Crook, SASS #55339
I'm trying to remove the bolt from my new 1866 Uberti Rifle. It has the wedge style lock. The pin that goes through the wedge, and is used for connection to one end of the links has been difficult to remove. I'm trying to tap it out from left to right, looking from the butt stock forward toward front sight. Is that the correct direction? I'm using a brass tool to tap the pin out, but I am hesitant to hit it too hard. Is it usually hard to remove it? Am I OK to tap harder? I would like to remove the bolt and firing pin extension to check for burrs and clean and inspect the firing pin. Thanks for any suggestions. Ace Hanlon
RC, I have tapped the pin out from left to right. Some are very difficult to remove. I set a extended small socket on the opposite side so there is no force on the bolt or extension. ACE

Rum Crook, SASS #55339
Ace, I got the pin out, but it was in there tightly. I appreciate the fast response, as it saved me some time, and the socket on the backside probably kept me for doing any damage.
