DocWard
The first man to run a sub-four minute mile, Sir Roger Bannister, passed away at 88. I've watched and paid attention to track and field for a very long time. I can think of some amazing events in the world of running, 1982's "Duel in the Sun" at the 1982 Boston Marathon between Alberto Salazar and Dick Beardsley holds a special place for me, as I remember watching parts of it and have read the book about the event, changing the lives of both men forever. Billy Mills winning the 10,000 meters in 1964, or more recently Usain Bolt's dominance in the 100 and 200 meter races are also amazing feats. However, there is something awe inspiring and amazing about Bannister finally cracking the ever elusive 4:00 mile.https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/other-sports/athletics/sir-roger-bannister-dead-88-12123602
