WTS a Mountain Man style knife.

I wore this to a few matches and got quite a few good comments, great for style points.

This knife is so totally cool cause it has that handmade, folk art look and feel.

Probably cause it was handmade.

The experts I consulted say it was most likely made in the '60's. And made for a Mountain Man costume for a Rendezvous or a Pow Wow.

The knife is approx. 11 inches long. There is a makers mark stamped into the blade, the best I can make out is:

W.H. & W.M. BOOS QUALITY TOLEDO. O.

I tried looking it up with no luck, you might have better luck than I.

The bone handle is approx. 5 inches long. The blade with the tang is approx. 8 inches, with the tang of the blade being set into the bone 3 inches.

With knife in sheath approx. 12 inches.

The blade is approx. 1 1/4 wide. The blade is thin and has a bit of flex.

The sheath w/o fringe is approx.9 inches.

There is also a makers stamp on the belt loop, but I can't make it out.

A 3 1/2 inch belt would fit through the belt loop.

There are 5 white heart crow style beads, an African trade bead, a blue bead and a disc shaped amber bead. also a brass casing, looks like a 45 but the head stamp is totally obscured.

$250.00, includes priority shipping and insurance.

Bank money order or cashiers check only.

Please PM me with any questions.

Mathias Boos & Sons imported knives from 1895 to 1936. They were based in Toledo, Ohio. From Blade's Guide to Knives and Their Values. https://books.google.com/books?id=E6NZd17WtWoC&pg=PA60&lpg=PA60&dq=BOOS++TOLEDO+ohio+knife&source=bl&ots=pH6fyjtf8h&sig=H4-fEhX4MxZI5XSo4hEe7ui0W8c&hl=en&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwiC-Jb_25POAhUCax4KHc2tB4YQ6AEIODAF#v=onepage&q=BOOS%20&f=false Bottom of page 60 lists the pertinent info.

Well that certainly helps. Thanks for the info.

It appears that this knife could be even older then originally thought.

Of course the value of this knife isn't solely in the blade but in how and when it was made.

I know it's a little pricey but well worth it.
