Abilene Slim SASS 81783
First off, prayers up for those who knew Lee Behel. Even though it's a risky business, his loss is still a tragedy. How did your guys do this year?
Dusty Balz, SASS#46599
Hey Slim, apologies for not getting back sooner, Pete raced Sport and Jet and finished 4th in both classes. they would let him race the souped up L-29 thsi year said it was too modified so he ran an L-39 and a Lanceair in the Sport. I got a late start out last week, we planned on flying a friends Lanceair out and a few days before we were leaving a mechanic started it to move it and ran it through a hanger wall, they pulled the engine and are in the process of tearing it down and rebuilding it, we were able to borrow a V-35 and at least made two days. The Gold Race on Saturday was spectacular, Bill "Tiger" Di Stephenie came out of retire and flew Strega against Steve Hinton in Voo Doo average speed about 492 mph, he flew the course high and dove for the win after the final turn, there were NO time lapse between them two Mustangs down low and nearly 500 mph. One death earlier in the week, tail winds to the PIC , I didn't know him.
