Dusty Morningwood Posted December 1, 2011 Share Posted December 1, 2011 CHRISTMAS DISCOUNT SPECIAL. This rifle started its life as a Husqvarna military M67 built in 1873. At some point, the military barrel and stocks were removed to build a target rifle. A shotgun style buttstock was added and the military fore end was cut to a sporting configuration. A 32” commercial barrel chambered in 12.7x44R was added. The rifle is fitted with very nice Norsk (Norwegian) target sights. The rear sight is adjusted for elevation via a sliding elevator bar and the front sight is adjusted for windage with a screw. The sights alone are very rare and collectable. The barrel retains over 95% browned finish. The bore would rate good plus and has deep and very distinct rifling with light pitting in spots. These rifles shoot amazingly well with soft lead bullets, even when pitted. I think the bore might clean up even better with a few more passes of a wire brush and steel wool. The receiver retains maybe 50% mottled finish. The locking screws for the block and hammer pins have been replaced with modern replicas. A lighter mainspring was added at some point and trigger pull is much lighter than the clunky military springs provide. Buttstock is stained dark and has some kind of Swedish (shooting club?) decals. The fore end has two stable cracks that have been glued and run several inches from the receiver forward. I cleaned these up, lightly sanded and added a couple of coats of dark walnut stain. $450 shipped to lower 48. More for AK and HI.
