1874 Sharps Quigley Model

Taylor's & Co. offers the 1874 Sporting Rifle in various barrel lengths and calibers. This rifle is the best known of the various guns used in the hunting of buffalo for their hides, and is often called the "Old Reliable" buffalo rifle. Many famous names of this period became associated with Sharps rifles, such as Billy Dixon, "Buffalo Bill" Cody, "Bat Masterson" and others who used the big single shot to maximum effect upon the seemingly endless herds of buffalo.

With the Sharps sliding breechblock and many angles and corners, producing the Sharps at a reasonable price was a challenge for modern manufacturers. The challenge was met, however, and now the modern marksman can enjoy the pleasure of shooting this colorful rifle. This rifle is a high quality Sharps and may be used for hunting and target shooting.

Bought this new for my son who now wants to sell and use the cash for his Tuition for college. This is a very nice one it is the Quigley model with the patch box and nice wood. It was shot a couple times when he first got it maybe 6 rounds I cleaned it up and has not been out of the safe since other than to run an oily rag over it. IT looks like Brand New but I remember a few shots. The trigger is adjusted down to a very crisp 2 lb after the set trigger is pulled. Beautiful Case colored receiver see pic below.

I have this exact same make and model, paid a hell of a lot more than that for it, and I got it used and it was beautiful. I strongly suggest that if you have sat on the fence, jump on this, over the last three years I saw one used that was this clean, although it was more money, and I bought that one!
