Come On Christmas Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 I have acquired a 3rd Model Dragoon that has surface rust on the barrel. I read recently on the Wire about prepping and antiquating a pistol using a vinegar solution. Please direct me in the correct path. I need to tend to "Freckles" the neglected LeMat as well. I have a black holster for the LeMat. I needs me won for the Dragoon. An open top or a cavalry holster will do. Shameless
Flint 976 Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 Vinegar will remove blueing, and could antique if it is allowed to etch the steel. Don't. Get "Plum Brown" from Brownell's or Dixie Gun Works to put a brown finish on the gun.
