What set of circumstances would warrant an Army soldier or officer wearing a patch on their right shoulder (aka "combat patch"), while wearing an Expert Infantry Badge (EIB) over the pocket? Why wouldn't the badge be a Combat Infantryman Badge (CIB)?
I know the EIB is a skill badge whereas the CIB designates engagement with the enemy, and it is possible to be awarded by CIB without having taken and passed the tests to earn the EIB.
But I'm thinking the "combat patch" would have criteria similar to the CIB, or there must be a subtle difference that I'm not fully grasping.
Any insight is much appreciated.
Combat Patch - participation award for deploying with unit, may be a Fobbit and never leave the FOB and see combat
While the CIB is awarded to infantry soldiers for participation in ground combat,
The EIB is presented for completion of a course of testing. To be awarded the EIB, the soldier must complete a number of prerequisites and pass a battery of graded tests on basic infantry skills. (Combat not required)
And Yes you can be awarded the CIB with out "testing" as well combat dont care how well you tested with a bore sight
Then you have the CAB Combat Action Badge used for non Infantry MOS's that actually see combat fire

We have a couple ranchers up this way because well we get alot of windy days , they wont hire a cowboy wearing a straw hat because they will spend the day chasing that hat all over instead of getting done what needs to get done .

MUSEUM MONDAY - ARTIFACT HIGHLIGHT - QUILTED GRAPESHOT
During the Revolutionary War, Army cannoneers used a devastating type of ammunition, called grapeshot, to cut through lines of advancing infantry. It was made of a wooden base, called a sabot, a wooden rod, and a canvas bag filled with iron balls fixed around these wooden parts.
Twine was tied around the outside to help the projectile keep its shape. It was coated with red oxide paint to prevent the shot from rusting. The finished product loosely resembled a bunch of grapes covered by a quilt, giving the projectile its name.
When fired from a cannon, the bag and wooden parts would be blown apart and exit the cannon with the iron balls in a cone of destruction much like the blast of an oversized shotgun.
The effective range of grapeshot was around 300 yards

Photo is obviously photo shopped. Notice there are no scope rings among other obvious inconsistencies.
The part that makes me sad is that it was not caught before being released via official channels. Yes this photo was released via official channels just as it shown by the OP
Wonder how long it will take before Cmdr Yaste tracks down the idiot that thought it would be funny to do this. Ship COs are not known for their sense of humor. Especially at their expense.
Actually no it’s not came from an official Navy social media post . And let’s just say even the Marines are roasting them for it . -

Just wait... To pay for all those solar panels, Emperor Newsom will add an income based surcharge to everyone's electric bill AND he'll add a matching surcharge to everyone's water bill. Got to keep everything equitable don't cha know.
The Metropolitan Water District of Southern California has announced that it will increase rates and property taxes throughout the region over the next two years as the state grapples with fundamental changes to its water supply and usage.
District leaders said the increases are necessary to cover the costs of importing and treating water, as well as finance climate change adaptations to infrastructure and make up for declines in revenue due to widespread conservation efforts
The district’s 38-member board voted Tuesday to raise water rates 8.5% in 2025 and an additional 8.5% in 2026. This will increase costs for 26 cities and retail suppliers that receive imported water delivered by the MWD.
The budget adopted by the board also calls for doubling the MWD’s property tax assessment in its six-county area — the first such increase to its ad valorem tax rate in over 30 years.

Ah! I see. That makes sense. Thank you.
And they changed that a couple years back to allow any Vet, PX access but for firearms you need a base that handles them local as they dont ship to FFL's and some bases that dont have a firearms counter .
