Does CA charge more for registration for a ev ? To make up for the lost revenue from the gas sales If they do I’d hate to know what it is , when I first moved to CA I had been there about a month going to school and I got a nasty letter telling me I had to go get a CA drivers license become a CA citizen and register my car there . Or the state was going to make my life as miserable as they possibly could, It was a wonderful experience. My first time to do a smog check and they gave me an exemption for not having CA emissions on my car which I had to pay handsomely for . And when the lady at the DMV told me what the plate cost I told her I only wanted one for a year not for the life of the vehicle . She didn’t find that humorous at all . I seem to remember eating allot of top ramen for a few months after that experience.
