  1. Such a great loss to the SASS community and especially the Arizona cowboy family.
Phil was always very nice and supportive of Kat (as all the AZ cowboys/cowgirls are) when I was away working.

Yet a reminder that we never know when our time is done and we will be called away.
    “Live Everyday; No Regrets”
Our condolences to Phil’s family and his cowboy friends.
    Prayers for all.

  2. "Reckoning on The Rock" 2025 was a terrific match!

The Regulators led by Turkey Legs did a class match and have built a class Cowboy Action range at the Beloit Rifle club.

This was an close and furious match and enjoyed by many.

If you would like to see the stages and details of the match you will find it here:  https://www.rockriverregulators.net/reckoning-on-the-rock

It may not always be the Illinois State championship, but it will definitely be a match to have on your "list".

Thank You, Rock River Regulators for a very enjoyable weekend!

Thank you to CHAOS for keeping Posse 6 running smooth.

  3. 1860s to 1900 is a good date range with the exception of B-Western in which your basing your costuming on Hollywood interpretations from the B-Western era (mid 1930s to 1950 and the RULE BOOK).

I would suggest trying to settle on a persona that you would like to portray (rail engineer, frontiersman, working cowboy, visitor from foreign land, banker, traveling salesman, ect) and then do your research on clothing accoutrements.

Folks in the West were pretty open to wearing whatever was available and functional.

Thinkin' it might be easier that way.

    YMMV

The vast majority of my dry fire time spent loading, shucking, and reloading the shotgun. This is because the overwhelming majority of fumbles throughout my SASS career have been shotgun reloads.

The rest of the time is spent picking up pistol front sights while drawing and also reholstering as quickly and smoothly as possible.

    This right here…..
