Could have been worse. In Riley's Luck, Val got two guys to hold full mop buckets - wooden mop buckets - up against the ceiling with the mop handle.

So instead of making a little bit of mess on the floor, it would have soaked them and maybe cracked their skulls when the mop buckets fell.

Reilly’s Luck. Sorry, it would bothered me

  2. Very nice! Nothing wrong with an Epiphone. My Epiphone Les Paul has some minor differences from it’s Gibson brothers, but for most of us, we wouldn’t notice unless pointed out.

  3. This morning, after much studying, I sat for and passed the exam to earn my Extra class license in amateur radio. My daughter, Rachel, also passed hers. That puts us at the top, licensure-wise, although I still feel very much like a beginner, and I know I have much to learn. Like any other endeavor worth the effort, one never really stops learning or improving.

As for the "until" in the title, there is one more test to pass, to become a volunteer examiner (VE), but I'm being told it is quite easy, and mostly a formality so one can help others into the world of amateur radio.

And aren't all rifles named Betsy?

Not at all. The rifle that is said to have taken down Patrick Ferguson at King’s Mountain was named “Sweet Lips.” They should be named for a girl, though. Unless owned by a girl, then I’m not sure what the na

    mi protocol is.

I go to the local (65 miles away) exchange once in a while and there prices are usual higher than what I can buy stuff elsewhere for.

I find the prices at my local exchange to be on par with what I can buy elsewhere, until I account for sales tax, then the exchange is a winner. Of course, I'm not 65 miles away, more like a fifteen minute drive.

  6. This'll take some thought on my part. My top ten fifteen. What can I say? I got to ten and realized there were a few I needed to add. Top five, middle five and bottom five ar generally in no particular order. I stopped short of including Blazing Saddles because it is a comedy first, western second. If I run across any of these playing, I'm watching.

    Tombstone

    The Magnificent Seven (original)

    The Outlaw Josey Wales

    Open Range

    Shane

El Dorado (Michele Carey trumps Walter Brennan)

    Hang 'Em High

    The Shootist

    Quigley Down Under

    Silverado

    The Fastest Gun Alive

    Big Jake

The Quick and The Dead (Based on the Louis L'amour novel with Sam Elliott)

    Last Stand at Saber River

    Two Mules for Sister Sara.

So a pop up came in into my news feed earlier today and I me, being well, me I had to take a look.  (Here's the list if you're curious: The best Western movie ever—and see the rest of the top 25, according to critics (msn.com))

So my reason for wanting to start a thread is this question.  When someone compiles their top 25 list does El Dorado and Rio Bravo actually deserve to be separate entries on that list?

Yes, only because Walter Brennan is in one and not the other.

I also think there are some movies that I personally don't really call Westerns probably because they are taking place (at least partially) outside of the timeframe SASS itself qualifies.  Don't get me wrong, Giant is a good James Dean film, but I have a hard time considering that as a true western.

It does make me wonder how they define the Western genre. There are a good number of movies on that list that I wouldn't consider "westerns" as I understand them.

  8. We’ve had a couple of tornado outbreaks here in the past few weeks. The first did a lot of property damage in our county, the second hit hard two counties north, killing three. A year ago yesterday we had one that did a lot of damage on n and around the road I live on.

The system that caused J-Bar trouble is heading our way.

A friend of mine was talking about opening a restaurant. He gave me some ideas for names he had come up with and asked my opinion.
I told him since it was an American food type restaurant he should pick a name that sounded homey and maybe run by a married couple. I recommended the name:

    “Sam & Ella’s”

He liked the name. It took him a few days to see the joke. He didn’t see the humor in it though…

That was the nickname AB and I had for a small mom and pop place in San Antonio when we lived there.

See , and thanks for proving my point. You expect me to change  and none on their part , Not acceptable terms. period .

So, wait, you're saying you refuse to change to conform and be accepted. OK, great. But you're also saying, by me "proving your point," that you refuse to accept certain other people as human beings and treat them civilly IF they treat you civilly. If others are treating you civilly, then it would seem axiomatic that the others have made steps toward compromise and change. However, this seems to contradict to an extent what you wrote below, that:

Fact Is I don't not care who or what you do in private that's your business not mine to accept . I treat people on how they treat me period . I do not have to accept how they live nor do they mine .

You are saying if people treat you civilly, then you will treat them civilly?

If you don't like me because of my views ask if I a give a crap , because when it comes right down to it , if You don't see another sunrise it don't matter to me :)

    Meh.

As far as Compromise where I can and stand up and fight , well maybe we as Americans have compromised enough and its time WE stand up and fight back .  Again Why must I be the one to change to get acceptance from you ?

You still leave me wondering if you are reading for comprehension.

You are not will to accept me for my views , instead to try to lecture me to conform to suit your feelings which I don't care about . You single me out because I upset you, tough deal with it .  I will not condone a group or lifestyle that doesn't align with mine.

Don't flatter yourself. I didn't "single you out" and certainly not because you upset me. I replied to your post because it appeared you were missing something in the original post, and attacking it in a way that was not in line with what was actually being stated. You have been the one taking offense and responding angrily, not me. I tend to be a rationally driven person, not an emotionally driven one. To the extent my writings could be taken as "lecturing," they certainly weren't to get you to conform to my feelings. Nor have I suggested you "condone" anything, although the direction your statement leads is one I find worrisome. How many groups don't align with your beliefs? Religious groups? Ethnic groups?

So by your reasoning you come to my home for a beer and bbq , I must coddle to you and your beliefs ? Not going to happen dont let the door hit you on the way out , You accept me for the way I am .

In logic terms, this is a "Strawman fallacy." You've taken an exaggerated and distorted version of what I have said so that you could attack it, not what I've actually said. your logical reaches leave me nearly nonplussed. Why in the wide, wide world of sports would you have someone to your home for any type of social gathering that you know you would not get along with? But what the heck, I'll play along. Assuming, for the sake of argument, that you do invite someone to your home and find out that there is something about their belief system you don't agree with, I would expect that: A- If not a major deal, one would agree to disagree, not discuss it, and move along, or; B-If that were not possible either because the beliefs are so diametrically opposed that it creates an untenable situation, or the other person were so rude as to not be able to set the discussion aside, then I would expect that person to be asked to leave. Coddle to someone's beliefs? I can't fathom where anything I've written could be interpreted to suggest such.
