  1. I'm a firm believer in freedom of speech.  I also believe people should not receive hate for their beliefs or exercising their right to freedom of speech, no matter which side they are on.

    I read the article these bullets came from and it made me very sad.  If you are in the Phoenix area, or are passing through, why not show these people some love.

    Key Points

    • A Phoenix-area torta shop, Tortas Manantial, faces backlash after the owner's daughter posted a photo of herself wearing a MAGA hat.
    • The restaurant's primarily Hispanic customer base reacted negatively, leading to boycotts and negative reviews.
    • The owner issued a statement but did not directly address the daughter's post or apologize, further fueling the controversy.
    • The incident highlights the challenges businesses face navigating political polarization, particularly those serving diverse communities.

    Can't blame you even a little bit.

    I don't mind if it's obvious they just messed up, but really irritates me when there's merge signs for a mile and they come screaming up the other lane and have the gall to think I'm going to let them in!

    Sometimes you mess up.  I get that.  What galls me is when they do this stuff deliberately then smirk and laugh as if it was funny.  There is nothing funny about almost causing an accident because you were impatient and trying to be slick.

  3. This event really shook me.  When I was in the service, I'm grateful we didn't experience this kind of thing.  I'm deeply saddened it has happened.   I pray it never happens again.  Prayers up for the families of the fallen.

  4. I seriously wonder what society is becoming.

    I recently drove to the pharmacy to pick up an order.  As I was leaving, a younger couple in a rather new Camry cut me off to get into the left turn lane.  Apparently, the line for the left turn was WAY too long to wait in.  I honked at them for wedging themselves between my car and the car in front of me, with their back end sticking out into the next lane.  After turning left, I moved to the right so I could get into the right turn lane.  The passenger rolled down their window and screamed "BIGOT" as loud as they could.  I didn't turn to look.  I just went on my way.

    I stopped at the grocery store to pick up a couple of things.  I have a state issued temporary handicapped parking placard.  I happened to take the last handicapped spot in front of the store.  As I was exiting my car, a woman pulled up behind me with the ugliest, meanest of looks as if my parking there was depriving her family of food.  I hobbled into the store, quietly shaking my head.

    I found a pair of shoes that I can wear with my walking cast that don't require me to wear equalizers.  {Equalizers lift the bottom of your non-casted shoe up to the same height as your casted foot.}  Equalizers pinch and are very uncomfortable to wear for extended periods.  According to FedEx, a pair of these shoes was delivered at 9:11 pm last night.  They were left in front of the garage door.  I looked around for them and didn't see them.  Uno went out and looked this morning and he didn't see them either.  We aren't likely to have porch pirates because our front door is not visible from the road and neither is the garage door, unless the porch pirate was following FedEx around.  That's $140.00 out the window.  {They are very good shoes and was looking forward to wearing them once my foot is released from it's encasement.}

    All of this happened within the last couple of weeks.  What is going on here?  Have we all gone mad?

    Rant off.  Thank you for understanding.

    I received a text from one of my neighbors this afternoon.  He said he had my package and would bring it over.  Uno was outside when he came over.  The neighbor told Uno that the FedEx driver knocked on their door at 10:00 pm.  The driver apologized for being so late but he had a flat tire.  The neighbor said no worries they weren't expecting anything anyway.  This morning they were about to open the box when they realized it was addressed to me.  I'm happy to have my shoes back.

    The 'June Swoon.'  Not long before the All Star Break their hitting and fielding goes into the latrine.  Doesn't matter if they had been up there with the leaders or in the cellar, they crash in June.

    And their season flips at the break.  If the first half of the season they were doing great, second half they seem to want to dig to China.

    Or, in the first half they've dug themselves into a deep hole,  have a great second half but can't overcome the horrible first half of the season.

    I hate to say it but the Angels are right there with you.   I recall several years back where the Angels were 13 games up at the all star break, only to blow them all, and then some to end the season near the bottom.  We can always hope.........

  6. I'm kinda a newcomer to grits.  I've eaten them off and on for the last 10 years or so.  I prefer mine like most of the breakfast folks above, with an sunny side up egg mashed into to them, stir in some grated cheddar cheese and chopped up, freshly fried bacon.  Stir that all up and top with chopped green onions and that is my favorite breakfast!!!

  7. I believe the reason advertisers make the adverts, music and voice, so loud is they know people use commercial breaks to leave the room for some reason, be it retrieve a snack or use the bathroom.  They use these tactics to get the ad to stick in your head so when it comes on again, you will actually sit and watch it.  How many times have you visited with a friend or family member and the discussion turned to "have you seen the ad for xyxyxyx, the one using this band's song...........

    Glad we don't watch TV.

  8. I've received them here in FL many times.  I happened to be at the DMV when another person came in and asked the clerk about them.  The clerk confirmed it is a scam and don't click on or answer it.

    BTW - another phone scam in the wild is notifying you of unpaid toll road fees.  I know for a fact they will only notify you by mail as the previous owner of this house (deceased) has received several of them lately.  {My guess is the person who is driving his truck never got it re-registered in their name so the notice are coming here.  I just write "deceased" on the envelope and send them back.}

    I had an upper molar that had a root canal and crown fail after about 25 years. I had it extracted, a bone graft and an implant. The implant failed after a few months (very painful). I had it extracted and another bone graft and implant done. It also failed after a few months, again very painful. I decided to live with it since the gap isn’t visible and clearly my mouth doesn’t like implants.

    This is a large part of why my implant failed.  When the tooth next to the now open area cracked and needed to be removed, I was asked if I wanted to have another implant.  I responded with a passionate NO!!!

  10. I will not set foot in Wallyworld either.  Uno purchases some things there but even he thinks it's a "wretched hive of scum and villany".  Coudn't agree with him more.
