Didn't like the girls' shoes, though. And the song sounded vrry familiar, but I can't place it.

I was talking to a neighbor, and she was telling me about another neighbor. They had drained their pool, and then we had a WHOLE BUNCH of rain, and the pool came up out of the ground. So I'm wondering if this was bad pool design, or just bad luck. I'm pretty sure that, no matter what design, a gunite pool with umpty-ump thousands of gallons of water would not rise, unless we had a volcano forming. Then I got to wondering - how can they get it back down? CAN they get it back down? That got me to thinking about another neighbor. They had a pool. Sold the house. New owner tore the house down. Filled up the pool (didn't "remove the pool and fill the hole in the dirt", filled the pool). Then they built a four-unit apartment house. Hmmmm. Wonder if THAT pool could rise, or if the dirt in it and the apartments on it are heavy enough to prevent it?

Some of y'all may remember Lobita. I took her to Fandango when she was a few months shy of three. This is her fifth birthday, with her new pink rifle (you can see her at the edge of the bench). The shooter, la Rubia, is her 14-month-old sister. http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b67/therealalpo/Guns/th_Solanashoots2.mp4 Photobucket is commencing to annoy me. When I open my account and go to that, it's a movie. When I click on the link it takes me to a still. And it's not supposed to be a link. It was supposed to put the dang video here on the page, just like in Joe's post. Dang frang rabbis giggis frurgus-snurgus.

Saw that in Puerto Rico. Cold and Caliente. I remember a motel I stayed at once. Had the left faucet wide open for about ten minutes, waiting for hot water so I could shower. Never got hot. They had them hooked up backwards. I believe it was in Indiana.
-
Seriously? Soap scum and the guy washes his butt crack, then urinates in the shower, and that all goes down the drain and then out of the shower head on the floor below? To quote Valley Girls, "Groody to the max". Now I kinda wish I hadn't asked this question.

So, that was an example of "calf too stupid to stand up by himself"?

If someone had paid attention in English class, he'd know that to pluralize "sissy", you drop the Y and add IES - sissies.

You're saying (I think) that the water in the boiler in the basement is always pumping through the pipes, which is why when you turn on the faucet on the 80th floor it don't take ten minutes for the water to get hot? But still, how big a heating system they need to service a largish (hundred rooms or more) hotel?
-
How do they do it? Smallish heater in every room? Largish heater on every floor? Giant boiler in the basement? Leave us say I own a motel with fifteen, maybe twenty rooms. I can, maybe, get by with a four or five hundred gallon water heater. But someplace like the MGM Grand? How do they make sure there is enough hot water for hundreds of rooms? Book I'm reading, the couple is living in an RV with a ten-gallon heater. Occasionally they will go spend a weekend in a hotel with "a shower big enough for two, and unlimited hot water". After the third or fourth mention of "unlimited hot water", it got me wondering.

You're going out of town for a couple of days. Do you engage a catsitter, or do you just leave out food and water, and go (because, since it uses the litter box, it don't really NEED to go out)? Book I'm reading. They have a cat. On Tuesday they fly to Alabama to see a sister graduate on Wednesday, then Thursday they fly to Tennessee to see a second sister graduate Friday, and Saturday they fly home. No mention made of "arrangements" for the cat. When I'd go out of town, I'd kennel Big Brown Dog. That didn't work well. Then I started having Mama come over couple of times a day, to feed her and drain her. Now both Mama and Big Brown Dog are dead, and when I go out of town I take Worthless with me. If she can't come, I don't go.

No one likes the French. If you want to be politically correct, it should be "el jefes".

Unlikely. 36-foot sailboat, and the story's 6 years old. Also, later in the story it mentions "the bay", not the gulf, but don't say which bay, so it could be fair-sized. They're in Texas, and as we all know, EVERTHING'S bigger in Texas. It also mentions they are anchoring in sixty feet of water, so it don't sound too far off shore.

How much of a rack does the buck need to have to be legal? Are antlerless deer legal for gun? Often, or just one day a season (we have "doe day" here). http://conservativetribune.com/hunter-spots-deer-drops-gun/ They're making a point about he "chose not to shoot the deer", and I'm thinking "wouldn't be legal here". Cute story, though.

These days? Midway is running a sale on some "Troy somebody-or-other 'CHOOT 'EM" mini mag hollow points. 300 round bulk pack for 24 dollars, which is 8 dollars a hundred. Seems like the last time I bought Mini Mags they were 4, so 8 seems quite high to me, but I know prices have gone crazy. If anyone's interested. http://www.midwayusa.com/product/234289/cci-mini-mag-high-velocity-ammunition-22-long-rifle-troy-landry-special-edition-36-grain-plated-lead-hollow-point-box-of-300?cm_mmc=pe_weekly-_-hotbuy-_-troy_landry_cci_minimag-_-20161209

I got a sleeping Santa in a rocking chair. As he snores, the chair rocks harder until he ALMOST goes over backwards, his breath catches, he snorts, the chair goes forward and he starts the snoring/rocking cycle again. Got a sleeping Santa in a bed, and as he snored the blanket fluttered from his exhales. Got one one year and the other the next, and don't recall which was first. I assume it was a case of "GOT TO get him a Christmas present".
-
I just have this vision of "darling dotter" saying, "Dang, Dad, you take re-gifting to a whole new level. Give me a present, and then years later give me THE SAME PRESENT."

How about Clarabelle (my grandma's name)? Or John (my other grandma's name)? I used to think my Daddy's folks was strange. His Daddy's name was Francis and his Mama's name was John.

About how far offshore can you be and a normal cell phone still work? In the book the guy proposed and the girl called her folks to tell 'em, and I'm thinkin', "Bet there ain't a whole lot of cell towers out in the Gulf. Wonder if that phone would reach?" Standard cell. Not satellite, not ship-to-shore. Thoughts?

Model 17 is a K-frame 22 rimfire. Pretty sure what you want are clips for a 1917, which is a completely different gun. Helps to be correct in what you are looking for. -
I don't have fresh, but my daughter went to India in October, and had a 5-hour layover in Frankfort. Brought me a Stollen from the airport, from some Dresden bakery that's been making Stollen since the 1600s. Pretty dang good, too.
