SAF, NRA, FPC are also filing a lawsuit to challenge the NFA registration requirement.

From the SAF newsletter BELLEVUE, Wash. — July 3, 2025 — With the passage of the One Big, Beautiful Bill (OBBB), which eliminates the excise tax on silencers and short barreled rifles, short barreled shotguns and “Any Other Weapons,” or AOWs, the Second Amendment Foundation (SAF) and its partners have issued a joint statementindicating their intention to challenge the remaining registration requirements for the affected arms under the National Firearms Act (NFA) as unconstitutional. “The NFA is nothing more than a tax scheme which has imposed an unconstitutional burden on Americans since 1934,” said SAF Executive Director Adam Kraut. “The registration of these items was only justified as the means to ensure taxes on them had been paid. With the One Big, Beautiful Bill zeroing out the tax for silencers and short barreled firearms, the registration scheme serves no other purpose than to create an unlawful barrier to keep people from exercising their Second Amendment rights. Our intention with this new lawsuit is to completely remove these barriers.” As the groups noted in their statement, “While we continue to fight for the total legislative elimination of the NFA, our organizations are proud to stand together in a new strategic lawsuit to challenge the constitutionality of the NFA in Federal Court.” Joining SAF are the American Suppressor Association, National Rifle Association and Firearms Policy Coalition. “SAF has been fighting for more than 50 years to remove unnecessary burdens to our constitutional freedoms, and we welcome the opportunity to fight for the further dismantling of the NFA in court,” said SAF founder and Executive Vice President Alan M. Gottlieb. “The reforms in the One Big, Beautiful Bill represent the biggest blow to the NFA since its inception, and we fully support its complete repeal. Just like we’ve done for more than five decades, SAF will continue to fight so all Americans can have the freedom to exercise their Second Amendment rights for generations to come.”

A couple, grilled up just short of charred and served up with relish, mustard, and chopped onions or chili and queso is the better portion of a great afternoon meal!! These lawsuits are EXACTLY what I proposed and predicted earlier in the week when the parliamentarian slashed the original wording of the amendment and the senators put the tax portion back in!!

By re-instituting the repeal of the tax on suppressors and short barreled rifles and shotguns etc… the Senate has managed to begin pulling the teeth of the NFA! By doing it in this manner, they might avoid any attempt by future legislative action to reverse this policy. Had they removed the parliamentarian or overruled her, it would’ve given the opposition ammunition to use in the future to try to rescind the decision! By doing it this way, they take that arrow out of the quiver of the anti gun group! This opens the door for the lawsuits initiated by the various 2A organizations to be brought before the judiciary, challenging NFA on points that weren’t previously available, such as the laws against registration of firearms!! The excuse for registering these items has been that it was a way to verify that the taxes have been paid! NO TAX?? NO NEED TO REGISTER!! For decades now, we’ve suffered from the “death from a thousand cuts” tactics of those who seek to destroy the Constitution and deny us our natural rights! It is disingenuous to expect that, without a preemptive ruling from SCOTUS that outlaws all attempts at infringement, we can get the whole of our rights back in one fell swoop!! Think of this as a few more nails in the coffin of the anti-gun movement!! If we keep driving in new nails, they will have a harder time getting the lid off of the box!! KEEP THE PRESSURE ON ‘EM!!

It WOULD be nice if this was the next wave of states legislating Second Amendment guarantees into their protection of citizens rights!! First it was carry permits, followed by “Constitutional carry”! Let’s get the ball rolling on this one!!! I’ll be speaking with my local representatives!! EDIT!: If this had already been the law of the land, there are several glaring tragedies that would have been avoided!!

An interesting concept! I’m sure that some things would have been very different today had this plan been implemented.

Yeah! The nutcases around here have been shooting off fireworks for nearly a week already!! It ain’t been real bad, but the dawg doesn’t like it! I used to do a pretty fair fireworks show on 7/4 and Hatfield took over a few years ago, but lately, fireworks have become more expensive than they are entertaining, so we just watch if the weather ain’t to bad. Gonna get the grandson to weed eat and blow off the driveways and sidewalk tomorrow. He loves doing it and I like an excuse to poke a little cash in his pocket! Gotta get him out for a driving lesson tomorrow too! He’ll be here through the middle of next week while he checks out a couple of colleges. Gonna hate to see him go back to his mamma’s next week. AH HELL! There go the fireworks again!! GRUMBLEGRUMBLEGRUMBLE!!

I don’t know if it’s real or fake, but sadly, it’s certainly representative of today’s younger generations!!
