Philosopher Posted September 27, 2024 Posted September 27, 2024 I've got two stainless steel New Model Vaquero revolvers. Both have factory grips that look like they're made of laminated wood, BUT my plow-handled revolver has brown colored grips, and my birdshead has black colored grips. Tempted to take the brown grips, strip the finish, and apply black stain to get a better color match to the birdhead's grips. Anyone ever tried this? If so, how did it turn out?
Mossy Horn Gent Posted September 27, 2024 Posted September 27, 2024 Laminate does not take stain well. Not very porous and difficult to stain the epoxy between layers.
