Itchy Trigger
The Texas Department of Public Safety will now issue License To Carry for 18 to 20 year-old adults. The Department of Public Safety announced that they will be issuing LTCs to all qualifying adults ages 18 and up. This became possible when Judge Mark Pittman ruled in the North Texas Court of Appeals that it was a violation of the 2nd Amendment to restrict 18 to 20 year-old adults from participating in the same rights as other adults. Multiple lawsuits have been filed against the ATF recently. With Michael Cargill’s win in the Federal Fifth Circuit against the bumpstock bans, more Texans are stepping up to the plate. At least three cases have been filed to challenge the unconstitutional actions by the ATF banning pistol braces on AR15 pistols. A fourth one is soon to be filed by Gun Owners of America. As is normally the case, Texas leads the way for the rest of the nation. In the Texas Legislature, more gun bills have been filed than ever before. As of today, over 100 gun bills have been filed in the Texas House and Senate. GOA Texas is tracking these bills closely. Currently, 84 anti-gun bills have been filed. While they are unlikely to pass, we will keep you updated if they are progressing through the legislative process. Several legislators, including Senator Bob Hall and Representatives Matt Schaefer, Briscoe Cain, Cody Harris, and Jared Patterson are leading the charge on pro-gun bills filed. Please thank these legislators for their 2A support. Last session, the Suppressor Freedom bill was signed into law. We have a bill to include Short Barreled Rifles and Short Barreled Shotguns into that same language. It will give us the legal ability to challenge the ATFs unconstitutional laws that were created in the National Firearms Act of 1934. GOA Texas is asking all citizens to rebuke Senator John Cornyn for breaking his oath to the Constitution multiple times. John Cornyn over the last few years has advocated for anti-gun policies such as red flag laws and more restrictions on firearm purchases. His latest vote for the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act is a slap in the face to Americans. The Act was signed into law by President Joe Biden and forces a delay in rifle and shotgun purchases for 18 to 20 year-old adults. Link to comment
