Thanks, SAND CREEK RAIDERS!

Recommended Posts

I didn't make the Thursday side matches, but I understand they had some bad luck with excessive wind. No, not Sweetwater Bill.

But the Main Match on Friday and Saturday was flawless! The weather was great (not too hot, just enough wind to dissipate smoke), the 5 stages each day were fun and challenging, the vast majority of the targets were big and close and the match was well run. We started early and finished by noon each day, which was a very good idea: it avoided the heat of the day, black powder shooters had time to leisurely clean guns (thanks again), or one could socialize or siesta before the evenings activities. I hope you keep the same format next year.

Friday's Casino night was a lot of fun, with gamblers earning tickets for a variety and plentitude of door prizes, with tickets drawn at the end of the evening. The Bluffs, right next to the Range, was a wonderful venue for Friday's Casino Night and Saturday's dinner and Main Match awards.

The Sunday events, the couples shoot, top-gun, and pole shoot were also a blast.

The Sand Creek Raiders worked awfully hard to put on a great match, and in my opinion they succeeded. There was a raffle for a Thompson (semi-auto) with violin case and all, and for a shotgun slicked up by Runnin' Iron (this was the one downside of the match - Calico Cass was disappointed not to win the shotgun), and a Redwing Damascus boot knife. The sponsorship of this match was huge! Thank you all! A great many clubs could take lessons in organization and match production from the Sand Creek Raiders (my own included!).

Any Front Range shooter who missed this match, put it on your calendar for next year!

Thanks for the report EGG, I've been wondering how the match went off, sadly work and life got between me and attending it. Who won the Thompson?

Grizz

An absentee winner from Monument, the name escapes me. That was the other thing wrong with the match ~ I didn't win the Thompson.

A very nice selection of vendors, too, I forgot to mention. Guess we spent some dinero.....
