Captain Lee Bishop Posted January 2, 2011 Posted January 2, 2011 One of my neighbors is pretty scary in some regards, I heard him tell someone once that when he goes to the local pool to swim laps, he carries a loaded handgun in his swin trunks in a plastic bag because you never know when you're going to have throw down on someone at the pool (I'm not kidding, this is exactly what he said). I'm all for gun rightsand person's right to defend themselves, I have a CCW and a shoulder holster I occasionally wear myself, but while in the pool? Really? Heee Haaa That doesn't bother me.. I drive all over the state to go to gun shows.. When I get there, I clear, it pull the clip,.. I tell them at the door ,they ty-rap it . they cut the ty when I walk out..Yeah, but all these other people here are talking about how they don't go anywhere they can't pack heat, so what do THOSE people do when they get to a gun show where they are told not to come in with a live weapon? That's what I'd like to know. I always thought it was a such a catch-22 for those folks and I wondered how they cope. They either don't go, leave the weapon somewhere and whine about it, or break the law anyway. So, for those of you who fell you have to be armed in every circumstance, what do you do in this case?
Pitmaster, SASS #78461 Posted January 2, 2011 Posted January 2, 2011 This is just a general statement but just because there is a sign posted saying no guns does not make it a law in all cases. Usually this is a store or company policy. The only legal consequences may be trespassing if you refuse to leave when asked.
Korupt Karl Posted January 2, 2011 Posted January 2, 2011 As law abiding citizens I know we are respectful of another man's beliefs. We should also know that there are places we cannot carry by state law: 1. Areas of assembly such as: Parades, Funerals or demonstrations 2. Places where alcoholic beverages are sold and/or comsumed 3. State occupied property 4. Any state or federal courthouse 5. Ref. #3....commonly violated-POST OFFICE You cannot carry if you have been drinking. There is a long list....the least of which will cause you to lose your CCW permit. I carry most all the time. But, when there is a reason not too I don't, I simply avoid the situation or I comply with the law. I have told the privately posted areas that as a CCW I will take my business elsewhere and that we are like deer....for everyone you see or speak to....there are 20 or 30 you don't see.....they simply take their business elsewhere. In Ohio at a popular shoot there is a hotel that posts no firearms. They lose a lot of business as there are over 300 shooters at this shoot and we do talk among ourselves. In fact, it was brought up at the safety meeting. KK
