Started getting light primer strikes, second hit sets them off. Maybe two or three per magazine. Switched to my 73 (same brand lightened mainspring) finished the match with no problems. My pistols ( with lightened mainsprings) fired the same ammo with no problems, so probably not an ammo issue. Took the rifle down, firing pin looked OK. Cleaned out the bolt, reassembled (no oil) same light strikes. Took it apart again today. When pushing the pin inside the bolt (with spring) it protrudes a good eight of an inch. When pushing using the extension it barely protrudes. So assuming it's inertial. Could I try trimming the spring a coil or two?

New to the sport and just searching for some information. I’ve done some reloading in the past and want to start again for some cowboy loads. I used the search but didn’t find quite what I’m looking for. Do most of you use the same load for both rifle and revolver? I was contemplating using Trail Boss and the published load data shows a load for 45 colt for pistol loads but in the rifle data section it doesn’t show 45 colt. I’m going to be buying some brass, bullets, powder and some dies and was just researching what I should get. Thanks in advance for any input Jed

I picked up a batch of LCRN 250 grain and I want to load for an Uberti 1873 Cattleman and a Henry BB, Both 45 Colt. The bullets measure .454. optimally they should be .452, correct? how much difference will the extra 2 thousandths make?

I am seeking to purchase a Winchester 1892 model carbine with a large loop lever. So far I've only found it available in 45 colt and 44-40. I am interested in the 16" barrel, but can only find it NIB in 20". My question: 44-40 vs 45 colt. Which performs better in factory loads (regardless of cost or availability), and why? Note: I will NOT be reloading, and I don't mind searching for rounds then stocking up. I prefer factory ammo, and I don't care which is less expensive or less available...just which performs better. Intended use: I am interested in using the rifle for indoor/outdoor range shooting, possibly hunting, and hopefully SASS in the future once I get my kit together. Again, I'm not going to reload, ever. I prefer to purchase manufactured ammo. I am also aware of LeverEvolution ammo, which looks intriguing.

When all the various Colt Lightning rifles appeared some of them didn't work all that well. How many different brands there are now I do not know but Pedersoli is still making them and making a lot of different versions. How well does the 45 Colt version work?

I just got a Uberti 1866 in 45 colt. It really doesn't seem to shoot well. I'm shooting 185 grain bullets from a Lyman mold. Are these bullets too light?

so i have questions for the other gunsmiths out there. Has anyone done a period correct conversion on a 1858 remmi replica? my main concern is the cylinder steel type. if the cylinder will handle 45 colt bp loads. This is what id like to do: bore through cap and ball cylinder with a 11mm (same bore size as existing) Drill the ratchet side of the cylinder 1.65 " down with a 12 mm (slightly bigger than 45. colt diameter) this side will be at a 1/2* angle to accomadate the 45 colt rims cut the cylinder back down to just the ratcheting neccesities manufacture a thin backplate, possibly 1/8" with cut out for rear loading cut the hammer to form a firing pin If anyone has any suggestions or help please throw it out there. Im looking for constructive advice

I have a Taurus Thunderbolt Rifle with a feeding issue! It will cycle, feed, and fire twice, then the third round slips past the tab that holds the next round in the mag tube, and jams under the carrier! I need to release all rounds I have loaded from the front of the mag tube to get it cleared. Either is there a fix, or a modification for it, or a Guru that can work their magic on them? Its not my main match gun, but I want it to use on an occasion.

I got a brand new 45 gated Kirst conversion in a trade deal. I know it's for an 1860 army but how do I tell if it's for a Uberti or Pietta? No response from Kirst yet.

I have one of these in 45-70. Very nice gun. I know that it was also made in 45 Colt but I don't know the barrel length of that gun. What was it? klw 31116
