That would be 40 years and that top looks fake. BUT a sailor that’s an E-5 after 40 years must truly be a walking CF!

I'd agree with the CF appraisal, but on the other hand -- gold service stripes = no disciplinary action. Don't know when started Navy high year tenure .

And the idiotic liberals had massive meltdowns because we were taking the children away from their parents.

IIRC, the children had to be separated because federal law prohibited incarcerating minor children with adults. That aspect was generally omitted from the manufactured outrage.

    I lost you.

Housing that was acceptable to house workers becomes unacceptable when used for illegals?

Giving folks quarters, at no cost, that were perfectly fine for seamen and then for workers are now "inhumane" when provided to non-workers?

    LL

    Yep.

Consider the irony that some years ago the idea for using ships for incarceration in the U.S. was rejected as inhumane, although the concept envisioned berthing that would probably be better than most officers occupy on Navy ships.

    It's less math, more observation.

    earbuds = 10 per pair

    person = 5 each

    watch = 4  per pair

    So -- last line:

    1 earbud = 5

    1 watch = 2

    1 person = 5

BUT WAIT! The person in the final line is wearing a pair of earbuds AND a watch!

Therefore, person with pair of earbuds and a watch = 17

    Therefore, final equation is 5 + 17 X 2

Order of ops with no parentheses, brackets, or exponents is multiply and divide left to right, then add and subtract left to right

    So

    5  + 34

    39

Edited, because I noticed the person is also wearing a watch. Such fun:wacko:

I wonder why the warden is wearing a vest?

If Patrolman Johnson, of the 12th precinct, gets shot in the big city, he most likely is getting shot with a pistol, and wearing a vest would be helpful.

But if Warden Barker there gets shot at in the deep woods, he's going to get shot with a high powered rifle, and that Kevlar ain't going to do nothing.

He's probably wearing a vest because; a) it's required by his agency, and; b) he considers it a possibility that he might be shot with a shotgun or with a handgun and believes it would be beneficial. Even after disarming a suspect in the field, they could have a second weapon concealed.

Also, wildlife agents aren't always working in the field. Some make entries into suspected poachers' and smugglers' properties to conduct searches.

And even if it comes down to being shot with a high-powered rifle,  I'd guess some ballistic protection is better than none.

But that's just my thought -- YMMV.

There is an rifle like electronic countermeasure that disables the drone's GPS, that wouldn't be shooting it down, probably illegal as well.

    Yep.

Communications Act of 1934 -- felony to 'jam or otherwise interfere with' approved electronic signals (radar guns, cellphones, GPS, radio communications/control signals such as RC cars or drones -- if it's associated with a device that's been commercially sold, it's an approved electronic signal).

I looked into getting a cellphone jammer once, this is what I came up against.

So, if the Scarecrow is wrong about this, what else is he wrong about?

And what about the Lion and the Tin Man?

    And Dorothy herself?

Did she have ulterior motives for dropping her house on a citizen of the foreign land that she was visiting?

Was it really about Ruby Slippers, or something much deeper? The flowers, maybe? Were they poppies?

And what if the Flying Monkeys weren't the bad guys after all? Or were they just pawns in the game?

It's hard to know who you can trust nowadays...

Sounds like you read Maguire's Wicked.

What "interest reference" did you pull the fossil fuel tax number from?

    Try the link.

I have no problem with anyone taking advantage of the subsidies offered -- it's a rational economic decision.

Let's say I realized a pickpocket (the government) had taken $20 out of my pocket (taxes). But suppose that after he took it, he walked around the corner and dropped it on the ground (subsidizing EVs). I would find no fault in someone picking that $20 up -- that's a rational act.

But I really wouldn't be keen on listening to how great it is to pick up money that pickpockets dropped.

Tellyawhat #1: 'Whatabout-ism' can be such a fun way to deflect, but really -- two wrongs don't make a right.

Tellyawhat #2: Let's end government distortions of both fossil fuel AND 'green energy' markets, and see which one is still around after a year.

Tellyawhat #3: Let's return this thread to its regularly scheduled memes.

    Fixed it for you.   https://www.budget.senate.gov/chairman/newsroom/press/sen-whitehouse-on-fossil-fuel-subsidies-we-are-subsidizing-the-danger-

Tell us again how there is no subsidy of the petroleum industry.

    From your article:

"In the United States, by some estimates taxpayers pay about $20 billion dollars every year to the fossil fuel industry.

So I'll see your internet reference and raise you one:

Annual U.S. revenue from fossil fuel taxation: $138 billion.

The U.S. gets almost seven times back in revenue from the $20 billion subsidy.

What does the U.S. get back in revenue from the money it dumps into EV? (besides, of course, campaign contributions).

Got an email from my electric company, day or so back.

    (etcl)

I don't know. It just looks like electric is a bit more expensive.

I drove a 2000 Tundra. In March 2021 it was costing about $75/week to fuel just for going to work (at around $3.59/gal), church, and shopping (shopping was only about 5 miles a week round trip).

    (etc.)

So, I don't care what math you use, but call it $20 to $25 per week is a lot less than $125 to $150 per week.  So, no, it's not more expensive to drive an electric than an internal combustion vehicle.  Even if your daily round trip is 200 miles and you charge exclusively at commercial fast charging stations it's cheaper, unless you have an internal combustion that gets 50mpg or better.

There is no way to accurately compare the true costs of running EV vs. ICV because the 'renewable' side of the market has been thoroughly corrupted by government taxpayer funding, as well as through burdensome regulations that appear intended to deliberately stymy consumer choices.

While it is true that the out-of-pocket costs for consumers can be fairly closely approximated, when I as a taxpayer hear someone talking about how wonderfully economical it is for them to buy and run an EV, I feel like I should at least get a nice big kiss on the back of the ear.
