It depends.  Within the Open Top Family, ALL the Cylinder/Barrel combinations can be changed around.  The Only R/M Barrel I know of that will swap to the Open Top is the .38.  In the past, the 44 R/M and 45 R/M would NOT swap to the Open Top.

Thanks. I have a 45 currently and I wanted to get a 38 spcl RM octagon barrel and cylinder to use on the frame I have.

  2. Howdy all, I have a 72 open top and kniw that I can swap barrels and cylinders with it. But can I use RM barrels and cylinders on an opentop frame? Are the interchangeable?

    Thanks

  3. Howdy guys, I currently have a single belt and do the same with the empty slot. Mines leather so a bit stiffer. I like it but want to try to double bucket holder.

    Thanks

  6. Charley,

If you're still possibly looking for an Evil Roy in SS, you might want to check Davidson's Galley of Guns. www.galleryofguns.com/ Click on Gun Finder (Gun Genie) and do a search on Cimmarron. It will progress you through a series of selections until you get to Evil Roy and Stainless. I note that they have 2 in stock in 5.5 SS in .357 and 1 in stock in .45 (you didn't say what caliber you wanted.). You'll also note that they ask for your zip code--that is so they can ascertain whether they have an affiliated dealer anywhere close to you, where the actual sale can take place.. Normally an affiliated dealer will offer the gun at a greatly reduced price from what Davidson's is quoting, in this case $960.70. Just as am example, the FFl in my locality that I always use for firearm transactions offers the gun for $802.99--a rather significant savings. Furthermore Davidson's has a rock solid LIFETIME warranty on all their guns. If something goes wrong, they will replace the gun free of all cost, PERIOD! I've purchased several guns this way and have never had a problem---but be perfectly clear: I have no connection to Davidson's whatsoever.

The only problem that I see is whether there is an affiliated dealer close by in N.Y., which is such a terribly gun unfriendly state, that has an agreement with Davidson's to receive the gun, and take payment and complete all the required paper work. If I had your zip code I could help you with the answer to that question., Anyway, good luck. Be happy to help if you have any further questions.

    Thanks Ill check it out!

  7. Both are semi-retired

I do not know how much work either is accepting

Rowdy works out of Lee's Gunsmithing in Orange, CA

    http://leesgunsmithing.com/

He does action work on cap guns

I don't know if he still does cap guards or not.

Cap guards are a replacement piece in the recoil shield, with a slot in it that prevents a spent cap from falling into the action.

I don't know what, if any work he is accepting.

  8. Hey Rattler:

As a new guy I am kinda curious about Rowdy Yates and Coffin Maker? What kind of work do they do? Thanks

  9. Spent the day with him yesterday, mostly in the shop.

He performed an amputation on my 16 gauge Swedish Hammer gun to make it into a coach gun that any stagecoach shotgun rider would be proud of.

Gonna be my "fun-gun" with brass shotshells & black powder (naturally).

    Was a good off-season day!
