I think the loading table was a poor choice of a location to do coaching i

Over the years I have learned some NEVERs.  NEVER mess with a shooter at the loading table.  NEVER step into a shooter's periferal vision (brass pickers, be aware).  NEVER, unless you are a spotter, stand between the scorekeeper and the TO.  I purposely place myself at the TO's convenience (Lassiter once told me a TO should NEVER have to look for the scorekeeper.  He's right.)  Want to get me all judgy? Don 't work on the posse (I once pulled a group out of the freakin' lunch line - they shot then went to freakin' lunch while the posse was still shooting!)  Do that cheatin' gamey bastard thing/bending the rules.  Or downright cheat.  In all these years, I've gone ballistic exactly twice, without apology.  I do NOT like drama on my posse.

The SASS Vaqueros came in a set of two that were sequential with "SASS" as part of the serial number.

Dog years ago Peter bought Colt .45s sold by SASS.  The S#s are his SASS number, forward & backward.

  3. Thanks, Tommy.  You know, I had always assumed these kids picked their own groups.  Wrong.  Berklee assigned them without a lot of warning (about 2 weeks) and the kids were expected to adapt and perform.   And they totally did.

You know the best part?  The person presenting the outstanding student award said some nice things about the recipient & then when he said 'talented cellist from NC' we (family) knew and so did the room - it went ballistic.  So good to know his peers appreciate him as much as we do.

You know the very best part?  He looks so happy when he plays with these people.

  4. Please, back to page 1.  Just returned from a magical trip with family to Boston to see Grandson #2 (Peter Sumner cello on u-tube) awarded a Master of Music degree via Berklee College of Music's Global Jazz Institute, complete with being granted the Matt Marvuglio Outstanding Student award.  If you are jazz-oriented, you can access their Masters' Commencement Concert via berkleeboston/albums.  There were four ensembles; the first two presenting (amber & silver) were a bit "out there" for my baroque taste.....  The first 3 ensembles presented 2 numbers; the fourth (Peter's, of course) presented 3, ending with his composition, Citizens United, to shut the house down.  AND, the next day after the degree presentations, before we left the reception, Peter got a phone call with the offer of a 3-month tour - a REAL JOB OFFER!  Are we proud?  Just a little bit.

What's the benefit of the cut down .454. Casull cases?  Wall thickness?

I don't give a rat sass.  Stumpy, you and Cammie REALLY need to come to Black Gold.  Miss you too much!

  6. And have you watched the LL world series?  These kids can play ball!

My experience with LL was as snack mom or running the concession stand (with help from the home team).  LL kids are raised well - it's always ma'am and other manners so rare these days.

I've never had the opportunity to try mud bugs, but would try at least one!

Went to an event in Lake Charles, LA swearing I would never eat a mud bug (I'm from SC - I know where they come from).  Had to yield when I finally realized I'd been eating them all week.  They're good food.
