  1. Understood but it's fine to use in an open or age category so long as you don't sweep or break the 170? I'm thinking of getting a cross draw with a strong, so just wanted to know if using it impacts the categories I can compete in.
  2. I kinda like the cross-draw holster because I have 2 different revolvers that I'd like to use. Can I use a cross-draw holster for 49ers or cowboy open? Thanks. BJM
  3. Thanks to all for the input. I went ahead and ordered a Cimarron 1887. Maybe I'll use it in cowboy too. Might be nice to switch it up with my coach gun! Thanks again to everyone!
  4. I've been trying to register for that forum for the better part of a week ... let's just say I shoot better than that site works, and I don't shoot so great. Got one coming!
  5. So, those wouldn’t work but the Cimarron Firearms 1887 12 Gauge Lever Action should be legal because it’s a lever action single barrel. Right?
  6. Howdy! Sorry to post this here but I can't seem to log into the WB forum and I figure a lot of people shoot both. Now that the rules have changed, I wanted to try WB and have the guns I need with the EXCEPTION of the shotgun. The rules seem to state a shotgun from that era works and I was wondering if anyone here knows if I could use a Rock Island trench gun or a Mossberg 590 retro? Any guidance would be appreciated. Thanks Blackjack Mark
  7. I really appreciate all the feedback - think i'll just use the LRN in the pistols and get the LFN for the lever action. Thanks again. BJM
  8. Seems like running the lead ones take a lot more cleaning after - so seems like a good idea for practice
  9. Both Lead for meets - FMJ for practice
  10. Picked up a bunch of ammo on sale at a show ---- so just planned on shooting it till it was gone, then I started to read - lol
  11. Hi All: I'm pretty new to CAS and been practicing with my first lever action rifle a lot. I practice with FMJ round nose and read online that any RN ammo in a tube could create a chain fire effect because of recoil. I've been shooting .357 & 38S - neither really seems to have much/any recoil in the rifle. I plan on shooting LRN at events. Just wondering if anyone had any thoughts. An unexpected bang, would be bad. Thanks BlackJack Mark
